Diggle: “I know what it is like to stare death in the face and be the one that blinks.”

“Burned” is the newest episode of Arrow. If you haven’t seen it yet, beware of spoilers. To refresh your memory on the last episode, click here. Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 7 on the CW, channel 5 for local Houstonians.

Jo, one of Laurel’s coworkers, learns that her brother Danny was killed while trying to put out a fire. Honestly, the case isn’t all that exciting. What’s great about it is how Oliver starts to help out Laurel both as Arrow and as himself. It doesn’t really take Oliver that long to figure out who the mysterious firefighter is, and the writers don’t really go in depth on the details surrounding Garfield’s (the firefighter) circumstances. Did you enjoy the case or not really?

Oliver is still trying to get over his close call with Dark Archer. It’s nice that the writers show Oliver a little more broken and human. Ever since the show has started, he has been certain in his mission, and nothing seems to faze him. Diggle steps up and once again proves why he is so valuable to Oliver. He is there to guide Oliver and to give him advice and say things that Oliver can’t really hear from anyone else. The scene where Oliver opens up about why the Dark Archer run in was different is fantastic. What would have made the storyline better is if Diggle elaborated on more of his close calls. He mentions that he has been through a similar instance, but doesn’t elaborate on it. Did you enjoy Diggle’s talks with Oliver?

Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Moira and Thea’s moments in the show are fine. There’s nothing spectacular about them, but nothing horribly wrong with them either. Thea keeps coming off as the most likeable person in the family, and is really starting to be the glue of the family as well. Detective Lance and Laurel are headed down an interesting path. They have been getting along well, but with what he pulls at the end, it is only a matter of time before things get worse. What did you think of the episode overall?
