Slade makes numerous moves against Oliver. The first is that he kidnaps Thea. The second is that Isabel is working with him, and so when Oliver hands over the company (temporarily) to her, she manages to make it stick. Oliver doesn’t even know about Sebastian Blood’s Slade connection yet. Basically Slade’s motivation seems to be to create chaos around Oliver by revealing the father secret to Thea and by telling Laurel that Oliver is the arrow. This definitely makes things interesting, and it distracts Oliver while Slade whips up more mirakuru. What do you think of Slade’s plan?

What exactly are the mental side effects of mirakuru? Roy comes unhinged during the hunt for Thea. He suddenly turns on Oliver, blaming him for Thea’s kidnapping. It’s a little unnecessary, and it is too easy just to blame the mirakuru. However, we don’t know a lot about mirakuru, so it is not unheard of that it messes with the mind. This is even more true since Slade seems to be haunted by Shado. As this episode shows, Shado is always right behind Slade, basically telling him what to say. This definitely helps to show why Slade is still hung up on Shado’s death. Now the question is how long has Shado been telling Slade what to do? The writers need to somehow provide some answers about mirakuru, and what the negative side effects are. Mirakuru can’t be the scapegoat for every time Roy or Slade go a little insane (although Slade is a lot insane), but at the same time, it is hard not to immediately jump to mirakuru as the source of the problem. What are your theories on the side effects of mirakuru?

Here are some thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Detective Lance gets arrested for aiding the vigilante. This is definitely something that had to happen at some point. Best hope is that Laurel will jump to his defense, and this will most likely be how Laurel confronts Oliver about the arrow secret. Hopefully this will lead to Oliver revealing his secret to Detective Lance. With Thea now being upset with Oliver, it is hard to figure out what will happen next with her. Hopefully she doesn’t derail completely. It would be great to see her have this great storyline come out of this, but so far, Thea hasn’t done anything too exciting.
