Tuesday night, VCU and Richmond Police Department detectives arrested five people in connection with four downtown robberies this past week.
Working together, the law enforcement agencies made an arrest in the abduction and robbery of two students at gun-point Monday morning around 5:30 a.m. in the 500 block of West Franklin Street. Police had received information on the suspect.
The man, whose name and mugshot will be released tonight, has been charged with one count each of robbery and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Other charges are pending as of this morning.
Arrests have also been made in connection with the armed robbery of two men on Sept. 17 in the 500 block of North Lombardy Street, the robbery of a man in the 1600 block of Grove Avenue that same night and another man in the 1300 block of West Cary Street early the following morning.
The law enforcement agencies of VCU and the city of Richmond are to be commended for the quick response they showed in the handling of these crimes.
