A recent summer night of fun on Long Island recently turned tragic for one family.
A young woman from Lynbrook was found dead on a foot bridge in nearby Rockville Centre. Lauren Daverin, an 18-year-old who had been married just several months, was found on Friday.
The case has sparked a great deal of media attention in the local area, with television coverage and several articles about the case included in Newsday.
While no suspect was immediately identified to the public, there has since been an arrest in the case. A young man from Long Beach has been arrested, accused of strangling the victim to death. He is currently being held without bail.
In cases like this, it is often not the suspect and not the victim who becomes the center of attention. However, this young woman who had so much to live for should really be the focus. Whatever the results of the investigation may reveal, there is still a young life lost unnecessarily. That should be the main focus as this case proceeds.
Family and friends of the victim have already set up a Facebook page, to ensure that this young woman will not be forgotten, https://www.facebook.com/pages/RIP-Lauren-Daverin/352507004886823
