Sparkles Lashayla Lindsey, 22, was arrested for the shooting that led to the death of Kim Kilgore, 21. Allegedly, Lindsey fired shots at Kilgore after a physical altercation that occurred before they entered the Shiloh Green Apartment complex in Kennesaw. Once inside the complex, Lindsey pulled out a handgun and fired at Kilgore. Kilgore was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but was taken off life support hours later.
According to Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County police, the altercation involved two different cars with several females in each car, which somehow led to Kilgore being shot by the entrance gate of the apartment complex.
“There was a whole lot going on out there. You have two carloads or groups of people who are at one another," said Pierce.
So far, there has been no indication that the two women knew each other previously.
Kilgore, a Paulding County High School graduate, was a Kennesaw State University student, studying communications. She worked weekends at Johnny's BBQ in Powder Springs, and was a former member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Friends remember her as soft-hearted person who wasn't combative. In fact, there was surprise that Kilgore was even involved in an altercation, given her upbeat, amiable demeanor.
"She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her personality just lifted everybody up," a close friend stated.
Lindsey is charged with aggravated assault and murder. She's being held at the Cobb County Detention Center with no bond.
