An arrest was made today in the fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that killed a construction worker in Fort Salonga back in October.

According to Suffolk County Police, detectives arrested John Pappias on Jan. 14 at approximately 1 p.m. and charged him with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash. Pappias, 46, of Northport, is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip tomorrow.
The fatal accident occurred on Oct. 28, 2011 at approximately 1:35 a.m. when Victor Schultz and a coworker were on the side of Route 25A in Fort Salonga working the overnight shift for Intercounty Paving. Schultz, of Massapequa Park, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
