Only days after her body was discovered in Florida woods near her home, an arrest has been made in the murder of Deanna Stires.
Byron Boutin was arrested yesterday evening and charged with the teen’s murder. He is being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility. There is no bond. Boutin’s girlfriend, Crystal Brinson, allegedly assisted in the crime.
The three had argued over missing methamphetamine. It led to a physical confrontation where, according to Boutin, Brinson hit Deanna Stires over the head with a pistol. They duct taped the victim, stuffed a rag in her mouth and taped it shut, and kept the dead body in the trunk of a car for two days before dumping it. Byron Boutin told law enforcement he had placed Deanna’s body where he knew she would be found, according to the affidavit.
While Deanna Stires’ body was in the trunk of the vehicle, Crystal Brinson had a court date, which she duly attended.
Byron Lee Boutin was on probation. Records reveal he was booked in on 05-04-2012 for Probation Violation in Citrus County, and booked in at Polk County on 05-10-2012 for Probation Violation (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia). His date of birth is April, 1971.
Crystal Brinson’s arrest record shows an arrest date of 03-27-2011 in Hillsborough County, Florida for Domestic Violence. She had another arrest on 04-28-2012 for Failure to Appear. On 08-14-2012 she was arrested for Battery and Grand Theft. One of her mugshots reveals a face covered in open sores. Her date of birth is February 1977.
The crime was committed, according to officials, over drugs. According to witnesses Deanna Stires had been taking part in drug use with several persons, to include Byron Boutin and Crystal Brinson, over the Christmas holiday.
Now there are families left to cope with a horrific story, a sad tale of drug addiction, use, and abuse, and an empty space in many hearts where Deanna Stires once occupied room. The remnants from drug use leave two people living with the fact they took a life, and a life taken. If anything it is a cautionary tale ... but, will those still alive be able to hear?
