Around The Sacred Fire

May The Rainbow Always Touch Your Shoulder

U nv go la dv – Rainbow in Cherokee. A Cherokee blessing ends with the line and “May the rainbow always touch your shoulder”. Have you ever met someone who live reflects the sparkle, joy and beauty of a rainbow touching their shoulder? Most of us have been fortunate enough to come across an individual who radiates goodness, righteousness and peace.

The old manuscripts written in Hebrew records a verse out of the Book of Psalms that teaches that the light (like a glow from a rainbow) shines on the righteous. It continues to explain that the Hebrew interpretation translates that “light is planted for the righteous”.

Light is planted because of the righteous. Every time one who is following in the footsteps of the Creator speaks or acts a light is planted, light is planted like a seed. Our words and actions become like a seed that sprouts and grows then eventually turns into a plant or a tree. It then bears fruit which contains other seeds that are sown. There is such power in righteous deeds and words.

As we now begin a New Year we think about New Year’s resolutions and creating new paths. Maybe you have never considered yourself to be a righteous person or as one who radiates goodness, joy, peace and love. You have the opportunity to be a righteous person every day and radiate the His light with kindness, a helping hand or a word of encouragement. As we begin the New Year may the rainbow always touch your shoulder as you follow in His footsteps and may the Sacred Fire of His love continue to burn.
