Spring is fighting through and the city is coming alive. If you are tired of sitting home, being bored and contemplating the next social soiree, check below for some of the hottest city events. This week is jam packed and the forthcoming weeks are strong contenders for some of the best entertainment the region has seen in quite some time.

Quick announcement, for everyone in the DMV, tomorrow (Wednesday, April 16th) is officially Emancipation Day. There will be a major “free” concert downtown at Freedom Plaza. Special guest performances include Doug E Fresh, Talib Kweli, Raheem DeVaughn, Arrested Development, MC Lyte, DJ Kool, J. Ivy, Brian Lenair, and DC’s very own Black Alley Band. All theatre buffs, enthusiast, and interested parties should also be aware of some excitement happening this week with “theatreWeek.” This week long event brings together a huge diversification to broaden horizons of anyone interested and keep theatre arts thriving in the DMV.

The Sanaa Project – 04.16.14 (Wednesday)
Fundraiser Event, spinning music DJ Underdog and DJ Native Son

Free admission, doors open at 9 p.m. with excitement and special guest performance. Definitely an atmosphere that will be a promising time for anyone looking for something off the beaten path.

Recess Lounge + RockCreekSocialClub (RCSC) – 04.18.14 (Friday)
Presents Broccoli City Fest (Pre-Party)

RCSC always brings the life to any party atmosphere and with the Broccoli City Fest coming this weekend, you can be certain this pre-party will be something worthy of experiencing.
