Aromatherapy for chakras: heart chakra recipes

The heart chakra governs love in all its forms including divine love, expansive love, desire and devotion and impersonal love.  It is located in the center of the chest and rules feelings of compassion, love and one's beliefs about heart's desires, relationships, giving and receving.

The following recipes from Francoise Rapp's 400 Aromatherapy Recipes Handbook address imbalances in the heart chakra.  You may also strengthen your program for opening the heart chakra by doing yoga.


  • 7 drops sandalwood
  • 4 drops rose otto

Opening the heart chakra

  • 6 drops lavender
  • 3 drops rose otto

Opening the heart to receive love

  • 5 drops hyssop
  • 5 drops sandalwood
  • 4 drops rose

Connecting with divine love

  • 6 drops jasmine
  • 6 drops St. John's wort
  • 5 drops cypress

Giving love

  • 6 drops jamine
  • 4 drops rose
