Arnold Schwarzenegger wants Maria Shriver back but their divorce is still on

Despite the news that the Schwarzenegger – Shriver divorce is moving forward, reports are beginning to surface from The Wrap, Radar Online, and several other sources that Arnold Schwarzenegger is telling friends he wants Maria Shriver back.

According to The Wrap, Schwarzenegger says he loves Maria, and thinks they can still reconcile. He has told his friends that he believes Maria should forgive him, and take him back.

But according to Hollywood Life, while Schwarzenegger is hoping for a reconciliation with his estranged wife, Maria Shriver is dead set on moving forward with their divorce, even though no papers have yet been filed.

Schwarzenegger’s Love Child was the Last Straw

Schwarzenegger may be basing his hope for a reconciliation on earlier reports from TMZ.com which stated that Maria told her friends she was ambivalent about ending her marriage.

Her reluctance to finally call it quits with Schwarzenegger was based on the “emotional power” she claims he has over her, despite the fact that she’s been miserable in the marriage for the past several years.

As one source said, "Maria has been tortured over pulling the plug on the marriage. One day she's determined to get the hell out, and the next day she just can't do it."

But now it appears that Maria has made up her mind.

The revelation that Schwarzenegger fathered a love child with their long-time housekeeper Patty Baena and kept it a secret from Maria for almost a decade, appears to have been the final straw. Schwarzenegger and Shriver Have Both Lawyered Up

Maria Shriver met with a financial consultant, and has retained attorney Laura Wasser.

Schwarzenegger has also lawyered up for the big event with noted attorney Bob Kaufman.

Both Wasser and Kaufman are top notch attorneys who have worked together on high profile divorces before.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver are said to be currently working out the legal and financial ramifications regarding child custody, access, and division of marital assets before they file the official paperwork for their divorce.

Schwarzenegger Still Clinging to Hope

Meanwhile, according to The Wrap, Schwarzenegger continues to tell his friends that he wants Maria Shriver back.

Arnold is still wearing is wedding ring, but Maria has ditched hers. She stopped wearing it shortly after the news about Schwarzenegger’s love child broke.

Word is that Maria has made it clear to Schwarzenegger that she’s unwilling to reconcile with him, or give their marriage another try, even though TMZ.com reported that friends of the couple say Schwarzenegger has changed his ways, and has been “really sweet to her since all this went down.”

According to Maria’s friends, she has accepted the fact that her marriage has failed, and wants to move on with the next phase of her life.

It may take Schwarzenegger a while to adjust to that fact.

He’s still telling his friends he wants Maria back.
