Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger says he isn’t giving up on his relationship to Maria Shriver, even though she filed for divorce in 2011 after admitted infidelity on his part after 25 years of marriage.
Extra reports that the star of new film “The Last Stand,” which just premiered in London for its European premiere, told German newspaper Bild that he spent Christmas with Maria and their children.
Schwarzenegger, the former California governor, joked that he and Maria are “not fighting any war” and he hopes for reconciliation as he still loves her.
Speaking with Mario Lopez of Extra in mid-January, Arnold had said that Shriver is “absolutely still the love of his life” and that he admires her for “keeping everything together.”
In 2011 Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger had a falling out when he publicly admitted to fathering a child, Joseph Baena (who was 13 in 2011), with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena, while married to Maria.
Referring to his biographical book, “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,” Schwarzenegger mused that it would be “nice to go back and not make the mistakes” and “it’s always good to be smart in hindsight.”
Since their estranged relationship, Arnold has continued to have a close relationship with his family and even took his son Patrick Schwarzenegger to the Last Stand premiere.
There’s been no feedback from Maria Shriver about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s comments but that she filed for divorce speaks volumes.
