Fans of “Army Wives” were quite sad to hear that Lifetime's long running show would not be coming back for another season. However, according to an announcement on TV Line on Feb. 12, there will be a final farewell episode that now has a title and a date. It is set to air next month as a final goodbye.
“Army Wives: A Final Salute” will be all about saying goodbye to the men and women who have brought love and friendship for seven years. It will feature interviews with the actors that brought the characters alive. The best part is that Kim Delaney is set to appear on the show. Her beloved character of Claudia Joy Holden was killed off last season, which seemed to set the tone for the episodes that followed. Joining the actress will be Brain McNamara, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, Sterling K. Brown, Wendy Davis, Terry Serpico, Drew Fuller and Jeremy Davidson.
If you haven’t noticed, Catherine Bell, who is the only original army wife that was still left on the show, is not listed. Since there is no mention of her, you have to wonder what is up with that. However, it will be a fun time hearing what the others have to say about working on the show together for so long and the lifelong friendships formed.
Also included on this reunion show will be executive producer Jeff Melvoin and “Army Wives” author Tanya Biank, who will be sharing some thoughts on working with the show, and real life military wives will be interviewed as well.
Even though it is sad that this beloved Lifetime series will no longer be on air, it will be fun to have the actors and actresses that gave us seven years of love and drama give their devoted fans one last salute.
The final farewell will be shown on Sunday, March 16, at 9 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
