Electronic Arts today released an exciting-- albeit a touch over the top-- trailer for their upcoming shooter Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, the third in the struggling Army of Two series. The trailer (below, left) does a fantastic job highlighting the game's improved destruction physics, revamped graphics, and classic interpersonal humor between the protagonists Alpha and Bravo.
Shooter games have a hard time stepping out from the monolithic shadow of the Call of Duty franchise, so when one manages to eek out of the darkness, it's worth celebrating. Army of Two has never been touted with much enthusiasm, not even by publisher EA, but the series was a shining example of how to take couch co-op and do it right. The Devil's Cartel seeks to do no less.
Aside from the eye candy of explosions, collapsing buildings and ceaseless destruction on a massive scale, The Devil's Cartel will also get some guest appearances by hip-hop artists Big Boi and B.o.B., not only partnering to create the game's theme song, but also as the voice of in game characters Charles "Chuy" Randall (Big Boi) and Anthony "Baker" Barnes (B.o.B.) who will be lending aid to the players during the campaign.
“Partnering with B.o.B. on the Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel theme song and inside the game has been a blast and I can’t wait to load it up, hear the song and see myself in the game.” -Big Boi
The Devil's Cartel looks to step up to the cinematic game stage with a new, high-octane story and two new operatives in the Trans-World Operations, or T.W.O., caught in the slums of Mexico fighting the injustices of a dangerous drug cartel. Players will experience a much deeper customization system than in previous titles, covering everything from weapon upgrades to the design of the mask.
“I love action games, and getting a chance to star in one is definitely something I’m excited about. Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel has everything I’m looking for in a great game – intensity and huge explosions and destruction.” -B.o.B.
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel will be in stores March 26th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Pre-order yours now at Best Buy right here in Manchester.
