All right, screwheads, listen up! The King is returning to The El Rey Theatre in October. No, it’s not Elvis; it’s Bruce Campbell, and he’s bringing his trusty BOOMstick with him for the big screen presentation of “Army of Darkness.”
Admission and concession items are $2 on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and $3 on Thursday, Oct. 24. On Saturday, Oct. 26, admission will be $5 and concession items will be normal priced. “Army of Darkness” plays at 9 p.m. on all three of those days.
The doors will open 30 minutes prior to showtimes. All those who plan on attending must be 18 years of age or older unless accompanied by an adult.
As always, The El Rey Theatre will have hot dogs; popcorn; candy; soda; and other concession items available at the stand. Beer and wine will also be available to those 21 and older.
In this sequel to the “Evil Dead” films, Ash (Campbell) finds himself stuck in 1300 A.D. with his car, his shotgun, and his chainsaw. After he proves his merit to the people of the kingdom, he decides to help them retrieve the Necronomicon. This will help the kingdom fight off the supernatural forces and will also help Ash return to the present. When Ash says the magic words incorrectly, he releases the Army of Darkness. Ash must now fix his mistake by helping the kingdom in a battle against a bunch of skeletons.
The El Rey Theatre is located at 230 West 2nd Street in Chico.
