Dakoda Armstrong has signed on to drive a Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in five NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2013, according to a press release from RCR on Friday.
"I'm really looking forward to driving for a proven winner such as Richard Childress Racing," Armstrong said.
Armstrong will make his debut behind the wheel of the No. 33 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on March 23. He'll then move over to the team's No. 21 entry for races at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on May 25, Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., on July 21 and at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta on Sept. 21. Armstrong's fifth Nationwide Series race for RCR is yet to be determined.
"Dakoda is a great talent with a lot of potential and will be a solid addition to our line-up of young drivers," RCR President and CEO Richard Childress said. "Our expectations for him are high, just as they are for all of our drivers. The tracks we've chosen for Dakoda to compete will give him the opportunity to show his talent behind the wheel and his potential to take his career to the next level."
Armstrong has one-career start in Nationwide competition already, finishing 25th in the 2012 season-finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
Armstrong raced, primarily, in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2011 and 2012. During that time he competed in 22 truck races, posting one top-five and two top-10 finishes.
