Armed 16-year-old fatally shot by NYPD cops

A 16-year-old in Brooklyn allegedly pointed a gun at cops on Saturday and ended up losing his life.

According to the Huffington Post, the police officers were approaching Kimani Gray “as he was breaking away from a group of his friends.” That was when Kimani aimed a gun at the cops and they shot him.

Anti-crime patrol officers were in an “Unmarked car” and noticed Kimani standing with his friends “outside and East 52nd Street building.” When the group saw the officers, Kimani allegedly began fidgeting with “his waistband and then break away” from his friends. Officers also described him as behaving suspiciously, according to the Huffington Post.

Officers said they left their vehicle and tried to speak to Kimani, but he supposedly aimed his .38 caliber pistol at them.

“Police said both officers fired at the suspect, hitting Kimani in several places on his torso and legs, cops said. The boy was rushed to Kings County Hospital but declared dead on arrival.”

When Kimani’s mother found out he passed away, she was hospitalized. Now police said they are investigating this incident.

“Sources said Kimani had had a criminal record, including charges for breaking into a car, possession of stolen property, grand larceny and rioting.”
