I was a bit hesitant to participate in a review opportunity that involved ditching my beloved Sonicare toothbrush for a period of time, but the Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Deep Clean battery toothbrush made my teeth feel so clean that I don't regret making the change.

My review packet from Smiley360 contained the toothbrush along with a full-size tube of new Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant toothpaste, which tasted great and made my mouth feel exceptionally clean and fresh.

I've used a Sonicare toothbrush for several years, and the Arm & Hammer toothbrush felt awkwardly large in my mouth at first, though I quickly got used to it. It also doesn't shut down automatically after two minutes like my Sonicware does, a minor inconvenience.

The minty flavored Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant toothpaste contains baking soda and peroxide to help whiten teeth while removing stains, along with fluoride and calcium for strengthening tooth enamel. After five days of using the Truly Radiant toothbrush and toothpaste, my teeth did look whiter and brighter, and my teeth definitely felt very clean after each brushing.

Another thing the Arm & Hammer toothbrush has going for it is the price. The Truly Radiant Deep Clean toothbrush costs about $9 at Walmart, and you can pick up a pack of two brush head replacements for about $9 as well.

My Sonicare brush heads set me back about $20 to $30 for a pack of two, and the cheapest Sonicare toothbrush now costs about $40. It's also rechargeable, whereas the Arm & Hammer toothbrush takes batteries, which are included.

If you switch to an electric or battery powered toothbrush from a manual one, it may take a few days to get used to the feeling of the vibrating brush on your gums. Your gums might even feel sore for a short time, until they become accustomed to the new way of brushing.

You'll find it worthwhile in the long run. If you floss daily and use a good battery-powered or electric toothbrush, you'll notice a big difference during your next dental cleaning.
