Arlington's Potomac Overlook Regional Park

Arlington may be a heavily built-up suburb of Washington, but it is also home to a park with some impressive woodlands and wildlife.

In North Arlington, Potomac Overlook Regional Park is located near the east end of the Donaldson Run Trail, and adjacent to Marcey Road Park. Potomac Overlook is run by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NVRPA), which is also responsible for the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail.

As its name suggests, Potomac Overlook boasts impressive views of the Potomac River. The spots from which to look out onto the Potomac can be reached by the trail system within the park. Potomac Overlook is home to a population of deer, and its Nature Center works to rehabilitate injured birds of prey.

Recently, the NVRPA proposed making some improvements to Potomac Overlook. These plans include adding campsites that could be used by scout groups.
