Arlington Artists Alliance held successful spring show at Ft. C. F. Smith (Photos)

Marie Baumann said enthusiastically that she believed they sold more work this year than last. Well, there were some fine artists with lots of the excellent work on exhibit Sunday at Ft. C. F. Smith. The old estate is an excellent venue for cultural activities like this one.

Even though there is now Gallery Underground where many Arlington artists exhibit, the old neighborhood venues are exceptionally cozy and warm.

Outside today, Wen LePore led other artists and visitors in oil painting. She had music, and it was a lively atmosphere in the sun.

Inside, the artwork was spectacular. I enjoyed the pottery and purchased a “berry bowl” by Leif DeWulf. It is a bowl with holes and a saucer. The idea is that you can wash and drain your berries before adding to oatmeal and such.

As for the art, check out the slideshow with the following narrative.

Jean Frank Stark

Jean Frank Stark is a graduated from the Maryland Institute College of art in Baltimore, MD with a degree in GFA and MAT. Jean works in oils and with all drawing materials. She is exploring subjects in nature as well as the portrait.

Elisabeth Hudgins

She is a leader of the Arlington Artists Alliance and her work looked great today at the entrance to the gallery area.

Kathy Turner

Kathy is a repurposer who makes art from found objects. Her work on display today is dark and moving.

Deborah Taylor

Deborah produces daily paintings and some of those were in a folder at the show today. I took some to an empty back wall and propped them up as I imagine a great show of her work with hundreds of these small acrylic paintings.

Jane McElvy Coonce

Jane brought cupcakes, a painting of them that is.

Marie Baumann

Watercolorist, Marie was on hand with some of her paintings. They are exceptionally delicate and colorful.

Shante Bullock

Shante always surprises me with extraordinary treatment of individuals. She is more than a portrait artist, however the one shown here is exquisite.
