Arkansas students to perform in Florida

Next month as central Arkansas families disperse from the area for spring break, a select group of students will head to Florida to perform at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista.

As part of an elite group at the Central Arkansas Performing Arts Academy in Cabot, the CAPAA Players range in age from ten to early twenties.

CAPAA students first made the trip to perform at Disney World in 2012, and the current group is working fiercely during these weeks leading up to their trip to ensure that their performance is of professional quality.

According to a Disney website, Downtown Disney has "world-class restaurants, dazzling entertainment and unique shops [that] line the waterfront . . . Shop in the world’s largest Disney store, dine amid life-size prehistoric creatures, bowl a game at the 30-lane alley and more."

On Sunday, March 23, part of the "dazzling entertainment" will come in the form of the CAPAA Players as they take the Waterside Stage at 6:30 p.m. The Waterside Stage is an amphitheater that features state-of-the-art lighting, has the potential for an international audience, and provides performers with the opportunity to perform at one of the most high-profile venues in the world.

Then on Thursday, March 27 at noon, the CAPAA Players will perform at Universal Studios City Walk.

In coming days, the Little Rock Theater Examiner will spotlight each of the CAPAA Players: Gabi Baltzley, Katie Collins, Ashley Conley, Christian Hickingbotham, Riley Hoffer, Kelsey Ivory, McKenzie Marks, Lauren McCabe, Caleb Mimms, Brandon Nichols, Hanna Reynolds, Josh Scott, Becca Smith, Jessica Smith, Lexi Urquhart, Shelby Varnadore, Gabbie Ware, and Taylor Zimmerman. Be sure to follow this Examiner page to get notifications when those stories are published.

Central Arkansans who can't make the trek to Florida for the performances can see the show in special preview performances on Sunday, March 16 at 2 or 4 p.m. at CAPAA, 2061 West Main Street in Cabot. Tickets are $8 for ages 4-8 and $10 for ages 9 and up. For more information, call Danelle Hoffer at 501-259-4950 or email her at Danelle@capaa.co. For more information about CAPAA, see the website.
