The Arkansas Arts Center will present a “conversation” with Helen Shirk as part of the Friends of Contemporary Craft annual lecture series on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 6 p.m. in the Arkansas Arts Center Lecture Hall.
Metalsmith and jeweler Helen Shirk is known for beautifully colored coppered vessels that, according to Craft in America, “draw on the power and diversity of the natural world for inspiration and meaning.” She currently holds the position of Professor of Art Emertia at the San Diego State University, and her work can be found in collections throughout the states, as well as many collections across the seas.
