The Arizona Daily Star reports Patricia Gaffin, 49, appeared in court on Tuesday after she was arrested on Sunday and charged with throwing a kitten off the third floor balcony of her apartment on 15th Avenue and Hatcher Road in Phoenix.
The disturbing Associated Press story stated that Gaffin allegedly identified herself as a "kitten killer" to authorities and told the Maricopa County Sheriff deputies she threw the kitten off the balcony because the cat urinated on her new carpeting.
Neighbors state they heard Gaffin arguing with her children when the kitten was seen being thrown.
At the court appearance, Gaffin was granted a conditional release from jail and ordered to have no contact with pets.
A May 12 hearing is scheduled.
