A number of wildfires are burning out of control in Arizona and some homes are threatened. Because of the historic draught, this is expected to be a dangerous wildfire season.
The named wildfires are "Gladiator," "Sunflower," "Elwood" and "Bull Flat." You can find up-to-date Arizona wildfire information on each of these fires on the Arizona Emergency Bulletin System (EBS) or on FaceBook AzEIN.
Animal Disaster Services of Prescott is helping out with the Gladiator fire by caring for pets and large animals.
There is also a smoke alert for the Gladiator fire. Animals can be affected by smoke and should be kept inside as much as possible. Of course animals with chronic breathing problems, such as bulldogs, are especially at risk.
Let's hope these wildfires will be swiftly controlled, but it is an evolving situation that needs to be watched.
