A friendly seven-year-old boxer had a 12-pound tumor removed from her back on Tuesday morning at the North Scottsdale Animal Hospital. Although her condition is listed as critical, veterinarians are hopeful the mass is benign, and the dog named Myla will soon be living a wonderful life.

Veterinarians suspect the mass has been growing for a year, but do not know why. Her surgery is expected to cost between $1,000 to $3,000.

Myla was surrendered to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control because her owners could not afford their dog's surgery. Fortunately, Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary, with hearts as big as can be, decided to give Myla a chance and arranged for the dog's surgery. According to myfoxphoenix.com, Luisa Chocron, founder of the organization stated:

"Realistically we are always full, but when they contacted us about her, and we saw the pictures, we just couldn't say no."

Once Myla recuperates, she will be available for adoption. The kind folks at Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary say Myla is good with other dogs, children, and cats.
