The 25th Annual Renaissance Festival and Artisan Marketplace is currently in full revelry. Join in the medieval festivities nestled in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains. Experience the atmosphere of the 16th century European village as you stroll among the works of accomplished artisans. The 30 acre medieval village hosts 12 stages of continual entertainment complete with; music, comedy, falconry, acrobatics and dance.
Revel in foolish pleasures with some of the colorfully costumed cast of characters while exploring artistic treasures and savoring delicious food and drink. The village marketplace is filled with more than 200 storybook shops, studios and galleries filled with unique works of art in many media formats. Visitors will enjoy shopping for pottery, wood carvings, swords enhanced with medieval workmanship and various handmade wares. An assortment of kitchens, pubs, games and rides are also available throughout the village.
Children will enjoy the interactive games and human-powered rides like: Da Vinci’s Flying Machine, the Slider Joust, Piccolo Pony, the Dragon Climbing Tower, the Maze, Castle Siege and more.
More than 250,000 annual visitors enjoy mingling with the wacky and unpredictable medieval mayhem throughout the village. Follow the Royale Court as the procession makes way through the village to the three daily jousting tournaments. The live jousting tournaments are a crowd favorite as armored knights mounted on charging speeds weld their lances and battle for the majestic queen’s honor. Cheer for your favorite armored knight in the 5,000 seat arena.
The festival offers food fit for a king at the Pleasure Fest, where you will be treated like royalty. Savor five courses of delicious food, ample drink and enjoy ninety minutes of raucous Renaissance entertainment. Advance reservations are recommended. Or choose to satisfy your palate through tasty offerings such as steak-on-a-stake, vegetable and meat pies, bread bowls filled with hearty stew and more. Wrap your fingers around a famous smoked turkey leg. Deserts and crepes are decadent and the cool ale is flowing, so make plans to take a trip back into medieval times and celebrate the 25 year anniversary of the Arizona Renaissance Festival and Artisan Marketplace.
The celebrations continue every Saturday and Sunday from February 9, through March 31, 2013 including President’s Day Monday, February 18th. The annual faire begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. rain or shine.
