Joseph Kennedy, of Cornville was arrested on Monday and now faces two counts of felony animal cruelty and possession of dangerous drugs and paraphernalia charges reported newsnet5.com.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Kennedy is accused of throwing a female puppy out of a vehicle moving at 50 miles per hour on June 11. The puppy was found and rushed to an emergency veterinarian facility where she was being treated for blindness and neurological complications. Since then, the puppy has been placed in foster care and is reported to be doing well.

So why did Kennedy throw the puppy out of a moving vehicle? According to the arrest report, Kennedy was upset that he and his girlfriend broke up, and he just didn't like the dog.

Kennedy's eight-month-old son was alleged to have been in the car when the puppy was thrown out of the window. The baby was found at a babysitter's home and is now in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Kennedy is locked up at the Camp Verde Detention facility in lieu of $17,500 bond.
