Tea partiers rally in an effort to counter protests against Arizona's new immigration enforcement bill.
According to the Washington Post, the local Arizona Tea Party called out to members in response to anti-SB1070 protests taking place near the capitol.
They urged members to hold their own rallies in support of the immigration enforcement legislation, which passed in Arizona's Senate on Monday. It is considered one of the most extreme immigration laws in the country. The SB1070 bill would allow police officers to demand proof of citizenship from anyone they suspect of being in the country illegally. It would also make it a crime for immigrants not to have proper identification and allow citizens to sue their local government for not enforcing the new law.
Arizona Republican Senator and tea party supporter Russell Pearce wrote the law and has said "he is on a mission to rid the state of illegal immigrants and discourage others from coming." Fellow Senator John McCain, who has consistently opposed harsh immigration laws in the past, came on board just hours before the bill was passed on the Senate floor 17 to 11.
An uptick of violence near the Arizona-Mexican border is said to have pushed the law in place. Besides constant raids, home invasions, and drug-related shoot-outs, in the past few months two high profile murders made national headlines. A local and well-respected border rancher and his dog were shot to death by an illegal immigrant the rancher had stopped to help and a pregnant American consulate and her husband were gunned down by suspected Mexican drug-traffickers.
A New York Times/CBS News nationwide poll released last week showed 82 percent of people who consider themselves tea party supporters say illegal immigration is a “very serious” problem.
"We support LEGAL Immigration" and “In Mexico You Must Be Legal... Why not here?" were just some of the sign suggestions the Arizona Tea Party gave to their supporters going to the rally.

This law makes no sense and only promotes racial profiling in addition to not solving the immigration issue. What happens to an immigrant that gets pulled over? Nothing, they go to jail and deported. Only to come back in a few months. What happens to them under the new law? SAME DAMN THING!!
So, I'm an naturalized citizen form CA and own a house in AZ. Do I need a passport to travel to AZ? I have a light skin tone, am I safe? What is the definition of looking like you are in this country illegally? - You cant answer these questions without racially profiling,. Define reasonably suspicion of being an illegal. Not possible.
Jan Brewer will see how many legal Hispanic/Latino immigrants AZ has when it will matter most, VOTING TIME!!

Just obey the law and nothing will happen. Come here legally and you have nothing to worry about. The illegals are sucking this country dry and we are letting it happen. If you love this country become legal and you can have all the rights. You can benefit from this great country and if we need to fill the fields with high school students we will. Someone will do the work. If no one does, prices will go up and I will pay them happily. I want a safe country with legals. Come one, come all, but come legal!!!

Just make ALL people in America prove legal citizenship, just as some stores require ALL people to show proof of age to buy alcohol. Problem solved. No racial Profiling. I will GLADLY show my birth certificate, Drivers License, etc. ALL Legals I'm sure would be glad to do this.
Its saddening, shameful from my part being az native to see such hipocritical, racist, bad-intentional, fake Christians like Jan Brewer be a leader of our state. Its one thing protecting our state and its blessings and another thing degrading a non-white looking person. The only problem and truth is that in az these type of white people like Jan Brewer do not see us Mexicans like people. They see us like savages uneducated with nothing good to offer. They are blinded by hate, envy over our beautiful bright culture, which I have yet to understand what is the caucasian culture. This is a never ending topic bottom line is that us Mexicans especially us Mexicans born in the US we need to defend our people and ourselves from these hienas like Jan Brewer and the idiot hispanic senator that approved this inhumane law. The great thing is that any bad intentional act never prevails it, this will only make us stronger!
This is a real solution to this problem without regard to Political lines.
One grant no citizenship, instead offer a work visas and work permits.
This solves many problems .
1 All illegal’s will be required to become legal, failure to do so places them under current criminal laws.
2 During the application we do back ground checks to Weed out the Murderers , thieves and rapists.
3 to receive work visas they must prove employment therefore be on a payroll and pay taxes.
4 This most importantly puts control back in We the peoples hands.

My wife is Asian and a naturalized citizen. In order to visit AZ she would (And I am assuming everyone would) need to carry her passport on her fulltime. Prior to this, she/we only needed to present our passport to a Federal Immigration officer at time of entry into the country.
Now we must present it on demand or face 6 months in jail.
If the Tea Party is truly for less government, there is no way they can support such an intrusion on US Citizens. However if the Tea Party is a bunch of white racists, then this law makes sense.

The tea-baggers are just a sad group of old, white, rich, malcontent republicans who hate blacks, hispanics, asians, the middle class and the poor and hate the fact that we have a black president. What is so wrong with the Arizona law. As I understand it, if you are not an illegal, if you did not sneak across the border from Mexico, if you are not here to suck up valuable American resourses for the benefit of internation trespassers, then you have nothing to fear.
I for one and sick and tired of illegals waving the MEXICAN flag and filling emergency rooms and taking unearned other resourses that I would cheerfully volenteer to drive the bus to dump them back in Mexico so hard they bounced.
What I think is totally wrong, (Besides all the illegals streaming to this country), is the Mexican women scurrying across the border like cockroaches to have a baby on American soil so the brat becomes an American citizen.
The law should be changed to a kid is an American ONLY IF one of the parents is an American citizen. No excuses.... no exceptions.

I couldn't imagine being illegal in a country, having a bundle of babies, demanding health care, housing, food stamps, ER visits that have shut down so many hospitals I've lost count. On top of this the illegals actually have the nerve to protest for "their rights" in a country where they are illegal. It is unbelieveable and it is disgusting. For the whining liberal who will wax poetic emotional stories, know this; it is not our obligation to support illegals. Let Europe foot the bill and pay for them to go there and live on their dole. \

it is not as simple as come here legally it is hard for those who don't care it's such a shame that you don't care. There are other ways to fix the immigration system besides this.
