Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to save, rehabilitate, re-home and help retire companion parrots. Many of their birds have come from abusive situations and need extra help recovering before they can be adopted out. The rescue wants to do all they can to make sure that their birds will find happy and healthy forever homes; birds are very particular about who they like and so when adopting a bird, the bird is the one that chooses their new family.
Their new location, which is in the same shopping center as the original location, but is about double the size, and allows for the rescue to have more birds as well as offer weekly classes and seminars for the public. A updated list of monthly events is available both through their website as well as their Facebook page, in addition to bird talks and seminars they also have free mobile grooming and other events. They also have a full store of bird perches, feed, toys, cages and other products for sale. The large bird perches that the rescue offers are even created locally. Because many of the birds have come from either abusive situations or have had little socialization, the rescue spends time working on giving the birds extra attention and helping them become comfortable with people.
Being a non-profit organization the workers at the rescue are volunteers. Volunteers work with the birds socializing, feeding and watering as well as cleaning up after them. All that they ask of volunteers is that they are motivated people who are passionate about helping the birds at the rescue. For information on volunteering or to fill out an application please visit the volunteering portion of their website. You can also view their wish list of donation items on their website as well, running the rescue and caring for their birds is expensive and things like extra cleaning supplies, bird items, office supplies or money donations are needed to continue their program.
