Arizona Diamondbacks shake things up

It has seemed pretty apparent over the last few weeks that the Arizona Diamondbacks were going to shake things up. I think a lot of us expected them to deal away a lot of players and look to rebuild around prospects. Instead they have fired their Manger AJ Hinch and General Manger Josh Byrnes. Bench Coach Kirk Gibson steps in as the interim manger and Jerry Dipoto has taken over teh interim General Manger duties. It seems pretty clear that the D-Backs will use the balance of the 2010 season to evaluate their club from top to bottom, and then make informed decisions on where this team will head in the future.

D-Backs begin rebuild

The Arizona Diamondbacks sit at 26-39, a full 12 games behind National League West leading San Diego Padres. That is of course an indictment on what they have done on the field so far this year, and their front office has hinted in the past weeks at big changes coming. On Tuesday the changes started as Left Fielder Connor Jackson was traded to the Oakland A’s for minor league RHP Sam Demel.

Big changes looming for Arizona Diamondbacks?

At 22-34 the Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the worst teams in the National League and really of MLB in 2010. They are a full ten games behind the division leading San Diego Padres. They have just made a trade for 28 year old pitcher Dontrelle Willis, who pitched six scoreless innings

2010 MLB season preview: Arizona Diamonbacks

In 2007 this team made it all the way to the NLCS, and we were led to believe that this was a franchise on the rise, with a full cupboard of minor league talent ready to step up in a big way, and that the future was all warm and rosy. The last two seasons have been a big disappointment, and the players have not developed as expected. On top of that injuries have taken their toll, and all that cost Manger Bob Melvin his job last May. Now the team is back, and while there is some optimism surrounding this club, expectations are a little lower.

2009 MLB season in review: Arizona Diamondbacks

After starting 12-17 the Arizona Diamondbacks fired their manger Bob Melvin, while that was probably the right move, their season may have already been lost. In fact since winning 90 games in 2007 this team has seen their victories drop by 10 a year that is a very bad trend that needs to be fixed in this off season. Sure they lost their ace, Brandon Webb for the season early on but good baseball teams are able to overcome those kinds of setbacks. I guess that means the Diamondbacks aren’t that good of a team.
