The state of Arizona has just created a website to draw attention to the enormous amount of garbage that is discarded along the Arizona-Mexico border by those crossing into this country illegally. The website, azbordertrash.gov, is also asking for volunteers to assist in cleanup efforts along the border.
The website states: “An estimated more than 2,000 tons of trash is discarded annually in Arizona's borderlands," the website reads. "A variety of federal and state government entities, Native American tribes and private landowners are affected by the problem, and addressing it requires extensive coordination.”
According to the website, the average illegal crosser leaves behind about eight pounds of trash in the desert as they make their way into the United States.
When you multiply those eight pounds by the hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals entering this country annually, it is not hard to understand the tremendous damage being done to the ecosystem in the American Southwest.
Illegal aliens typically discard plastic water bottles, cans, clothing, backpacks, batteries and even vehicles. A great deal of medical and human waste can also be seen throughout the desert.
The trash, not only has a negative impact on the plant and animal life in the Arizona desert, but as the website points out: “"The cost of disposing of this trash is high for local communities. Landfill fees range from $37 to $49 per ton in Southern Arizona. These fees do not include costs for materials, equipment, labor and transportation for the collection and transfer of the trash to the landfill.”
While most of the attention given to the toll illegal immigration is having on this nation, usually focuses on crime and financial burdens, the toll being taken on this country’s once pristine wilderness is most often completely ignored.

The economics of immigration, Stephen C. Goss, the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration and someone who enjoys bipartisan support for his straightforwardness, said that by 2007, the Social Security trust fund had received a net benefit of somewhere between $120 billion and $240 billion from unauthorized immigrants.
That represented an astounding 5.4 percent to 10.7 percent of the trust fund's total assets of $2.24 trillion that year. The cumulative contribution is surely higher now. Unauthorized immigrants paid a net contribution of $12 billion in 2007 alone, Goss said.
Previous estimates circulating publicly and in Congress had placed the annual contributions at roughly half of Goss's 2007 figure and listed the cumulative benefit on the order of $50 billion.
The Social Security trust fund faces a solvency crisis that would be even more pressing were it not for these payments.
Adding to the Social Security irony is that the restrictionists are mostly OLDER AND RETIRED WHITES from longtime American families. The very people, in other words, who benefit most from the Social Security payments by unauthorized immigrants.
And how much did the illegal aliens receive in benefits; Medicaid, emergency rooms, English language teachers, schools, additional police to deal with the gangs, vandalism entitlements to anchor babies which by the way the Mexican constitution says are Mex citizens
Illegal invaders cost the U.S. $113 billion a year as a conservative estimate. That does not even include the cost of unemployment insurance paid out to unemployed Americans that have lost jobs to felon illegal invaders nor the tens of billions never spent in America's economy that were sent back to their homelands. All in all, illegal invaders presence has been devastating to our economy. According to PEW Hispanic Center there are 8 million felon illegal invaders now stealing paychecks from Americans.

In Iowa, unauthorized immigrants pay an estimated $40 to $62 million in state taxes, while they and their employers contribute an additional $50 million to $77.8 million in federal, Social Security, and Medicare taxes from which they will never benefit. In Oregon, unauthorized immigrants—who are not eligible for any state benefits—pay between $134 million and $187 million in taxes each year. Finally, in Texas, the State Comptroller found that, without unauthorized residents, the gross state product in 2005 would have been $17.7 billion less.
Most illegal invaders are low payed & low skilled, meaning that very little is paid in taxes, most get refunds of all paid and many get the freebie unearned income tax credit. Stolen and/or forged SS#s are the magic key for many welfare benefits. You're kidding no one!

Emily---What do your ridiculous remarks have to do with the topic at hand? Illegals do dump tons of trash in the dessert and that hurts fragile ecosystems. Why does someone have to be some kind of "expert" on immigration law to point out this fact?
Jordan---Only "older and retired whites" want reduced rates of legal immigration and and end to illegal immigration? Where do you get these ideas? There are many people of Hispanic descent and many African-American people who are fed up and speaking out about this topic---and they're not all "old" either. I guess you think that we have unlimited resources such as buildable land and potable water---and that we also have deep pockets to fund your open borders stance.
As for the SSA---much of those so-called "benefits" that illegals have added to the SSA's coffers were done by using stolen SSNs. So, one day when the rightful owner goes to claim his/her SS benefits, they will have a mess to clean up before s/he will be allowed to collect. Also, did you know that even if an illegal steals an SSN, s/he can one day make a claim for those benefits? Nice try though but you fail miserably.
