Arizona Cardinals ask to talk to Bruce Arians about head coaching job

There is a new name attached to the Cardinals open head coaching job. Arizona has asked permission to talk to Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

Arians was a finalist for the Bears job, but they gave the job to former Cardinals offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. This season, Arians was the Colts interim head coach for 12 games while Chuck Pagano was recovering from Leukemia. In those 12 contests, Indianapolis went 9-3.

Before taking the job in Indy this season, Arians spent five seasons in Pittsburgh as the Steelers offensive coordinator. He was also a head coach in college for six seasons at Temple and has been in the coaching profession since 1975.

The Cardinals wanting to bring in Arians is more proof they are looking for an offensive minded head coach. Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will interview with the club today. Ray Horton continues to wait to see if he will get the job or if he will back as the team's defensive coordinator.
