Ariel Castro was found dead in his jail cell at the Correctional Reception Center on Tuesday. Castro's death was ruled an apparent suicide, according to NBC News reports on Sept. 4.
The Ohio rapist was transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center where he was officially pronounced dead by medical personnel at 10:20 p.m. EST.
Franklin County Coroner, Jan Gorniak has ruled that Castro’s dead is consistent with suicide by hanging; the Ohio kidnapper was found hanging to death with bed sheets.
On May 6, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight escaped from an Ohio home after being held in captivity for a decade.
The girls mysteriously disappeared in their native Ohio town between 2002 and 2004.
On Aug. 1, Ariel Castro was sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years following a guilty plea for the kidnapping and raping of three Ohio girls including fetal homicide; he beat and starved Michelle Knight to induce a miscarriage during captivity.
