Fans of Ariana Grande love her signature hair style, however, recently the Nickelodeon star of "Sam and Cat" and singer has come under scrutiny about her lovely, long locks which are actually extensions.
Now, why this should come as a surprise is what is actually the surprise. While some performers, singers, dancers and actors have a signature style that is recognizable just about anywhere what is so excessive about extensions? There are thousands or more of "every day" people who use extensions and wigs to create their own signature styles.
Grande takes to Twitter and Facebook to explain her extensions. As diehard fans know, her natural hair color is actually brunette, but since the three other girls of the hit television show "Victorious" were also brunette it almost cost her the job. Deciding to set herself apart with radiantly red hair it became her signature look on and off the small screen.
However, Grande found out like most teens that constant coloring of her hair takes a toll. She shares, "I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat," she wrote. "As one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair." She continues, "My real hair is back to brown," she continues, "and I wear extensions but I wear it in a pony tail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down."
She's tried other options like weaves and wigs, neither of which she liked. So, in the meantime it's extensions for her exclusively until her hair grows back out healthy.
So yes, you may have to look at the same style for awhile, she hopes that her fans can understand that “trust me, it’s even more difficult for me to have to wait forever for my natural hair to grow back and to have to wear more fake hair than every drag queen on earth combined. So PLEASE gimme a break about the hair (or just don’t look at me lol). IT’S JUST HAIR AFTER ALL.”
In the meantime she's continuing in her role as "Cat" and working on her new album. She tweets, "no words to describe how stoked I am about this new music .... feels really special."
As for the hair that isn't there ... it is just hair after all.
