The song, called 'Best Mistake,' features rapper Big Sean, who previously collaborated with Grande on her debut album, Yours Truly. The new track is considerably more low key and mellow compared to the previous two tracks released from the album, 'Problem' and 'Break Free.'
The saxophone influenced 'Problem' was released as the album's lead single on Apr. 28. It quickly shot up the iTunes charts landing in the #1 position. 'Problem,' which features Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea, sold 438,000 digital copies in its first week of release, making it the fourth largest debut for a woman in music history. The song has since peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
On July 2, Grande released 'Break Free,' as the second single from the album to radio stations across the country. The song, a head banging dance track featuring renowned DJ, Zedd, had a similar trajectory to 'Problem,' as it quickly raced to the top of the iTunes charts.
Grande made another significant impact on the charts after the lead single (which features Grande and rapper Nicki Minaj) from UK singer Jessie J's upcoming album, entitled 'Bang Bang,' impacted radio and iTunes on July 28. The song went on to sell 230,000 digital downloads in its first week of release making it the second largest sales debut of the year, only behind Grande's own, 'Problem.'
While on the subject of collaborations, Grande's second studio effort will showcase a plethora of them. In addition to those already mentioned, the album will include tracks that feature Cashmere Cat, Childish Gambino, and A$AP Ferg.
Grande has dominated the Billboard charts this summer and currently has three hits in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. On Aug. 24, she will perform her latest single 'Break Free' along with 'Bang Bang' (accompanied by Jessie J and Nicki Minaj) at the MTV Video Music Awards.
'Best Mistake' has followed suit and has already hit the #1 position on iTunes all-genres song chart. You can hear hear the song in full on YouTube.
