Arian Foster injury update news is bad for fantasy football owners. Due to a calf injury Foster will have his carries limited against the San Diego Chargers during Week One. According to a report from ESPN on Friday (August 30), he has missed the entire preseason dealing with calf and back injuries. This has led the coaching staff to worry about overworking him when the regular season begins.
Houston Texans fans don't have to worry that much because the team has the very capable Ben Tate ready to take more carries. Tate could probably start for many NFL teams, so he is definitely a good option to split time with Foster. For fantasy owners that selected Tate in drafts this season, the Week One game might even be a chance to start him in deeper leagues.
Last season for the Texans, Foster made 351 carries for 1,424 yards and 15 touchdowns. He could still get numbers like that in the 2013 NFL season, but the team is going to bring him along slowly. If the Texans get up by a lot on the Chargers, it's also possible that Foster doesn't see any touches in the second half.
Currently the Arian Foster injury update has him listed as probable to play in the Week One game and there has been no suggestion that he won't take the field. The only question is how many plays he will see against the Chargers and whether he will make a big enough impact to make him worthy of a start on fantasy football rosters.
