"Argo" won the Best Picture Award at the 18th annual Critics' Choice Awards at Barker Hangar on Jan. 10, 2013 in Santa Monica, California. The awards show was hosted by Sam Rubin and was broadcast on the CW Network. Accepting the award was producer George Clooney, actor/producer/director Ben Affleck, producer Grant Heslov and composer Alexandre Desplat.
"Argo," is a dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran. The film was directed by Ben Affleck and stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman.
"Argo's" director Ben Affleck also took home the award for Best Director on the same day that he was snubbed by the Academy Awards. "Argo" was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy Awards. The Golden Globe Awards will be handed out this Sunday and the Academy Awards will take place the last Sunday in February.
