Coverage of the 2013 Oscars starts Sunday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. on ABC, and ‘Argo’ has emerged as the leading contender among the nine Best Picture nominees.
Honoring the deserving ‘Argo’ is the least voters can do after inexplicably snubbing Ben Affleck in the Directing category.

‘Argo’ is the suspenseful dramatization of the secret government operation to extract a group of American diplomats from Iran in 1980.
‘Argo’ was released Tuesday on DVD and Blu-ray, but the film is still playing at Regal Hollywood 18 in Huntsville.
The other eight Best Picture nominees:
- ‘Amour’
- ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’
- ‘Django Unchained’
- ‘Les Miserables’
- ‘Life of Pi’
- ‘Lincoln’
- ‘Silver Linings Playbook’
- ‘Zero Dark Thirty’
All the Best Picture nominees are still playing in Huntsville theaters except for ‘Amour’ and ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild.’
