The grand opening for the new location of the Laman Library, Argenta Branch, in the old post office building on Main Street in North Little Rock, will take place Saturday April 5, 2014. Following the grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. there will be plenty of activities and live entertainment. Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers will be the first to perform at 10 a.m. and then at 11 a.m. attendees will enjoy a special Vaudeville-style musical variety stage show presented by The Arkansaw Toothpick Theater called "The Front Porch Jubilee", featuring musicians, performers and magic.

At 12:30 p.m. the library will host Tail Waggin' Tutors, a program that will allow children to practice their reading skills in a “dog friendly” environment while sitting with dogs and reading to their four legged companions. Youngsters will also enjoy all day arts and crafts in the Children’s Department.

At 2 p.m. there will be a presentation by Sandra Taylor Smith, director of North Little Rock History Commission, and Otto Seay. Smith, who is also a former postal employee, will discuss the history of the downtown North Little Rock Post Office.
