The 2011 Grammy Awards opened with a moving tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
Due to her battle with pancreatic cancer, Aretha Franklin was not in attendance for the emotional tribute featuring Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams and Martina McBride.
Initial reports from inside the auditorium suggested that there were scant jeers and boos for Christina Aguilera - most of which were quickly drowned out by her overwhelming support. The few heckles were believed to be inspired by Aguilera's botched Super Bowl appearance last weekend where the singer and actress infamously forgot the correct lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner.
The big story of the 2011 Grammys, however, was the arrival of Lady Gaga.
Before the 2011 Grammy Awards even started, Lady Gaga stole the show by arriving at the ceremony Sunday evening at the Grammy Awards inside of an egg shell.
According to TMZ, Lady Gaga arrived being carried down the red carpet in something that looks like it came from the movie "Alien."

If Lady Gaga was looking to pull off a stunt that would distract from recent allegations that she ripped off Madonna's "Express Yourself" in her new single "Born This Way," its a safe conclusion that she may have done so tonight at the Grammys.
Tonight, Lady Gaga's fans are wondering what exactly is represented by the egg in which Lady Gaga arrived.
According to one fan - or 'Monster' aka Lady Gaga fan - who posted his feedback on the MTV Grammys message board, Lady Gaga "is trying to symbolize that she's coming out of her shell. We're about to see the real Lady Gaga... no more conforming or being who the 'man' wants her to be."

If Lady Gaga was inside her shell before, one can only imagine what new and uninhibited Lady Gaga will be like.
After all, Lady Gaga never struck most people before as a conservative artist who was somehow holding something back.

Others, of course, contend that Lady Gaga was "reborn" tonight and that a new image will emerge for the "Born This Way" singer.
