Aretha Franklin didn't let a little cold weather stop the show on Friday night for the National Christmas Tree Lighting. One of the featured guests of the performance, the Queen of Soul took the stage to perform with a military man at her side. No she didn't need security, she needed someone to hold the umbrella and keep the rain off her fur. The extraordinary moment had fans singing along as Franklin belted out a classic Christmas tune.
“Sharing a moment with the Queen!” tweeted Mariah Carey from her official Twitter account on Saturday. Carey was the other artist who performed in the cold and both ladies didn't let the chill stop them.
The annual National Christmas Tree Lighting had the President and the First Family lighting up the large Christmas tree in Washington DC. Since the weather was so cold, the ceremony to turn on the lights was cut short to make sure everyone didn't get too cold, but the bulbs on the holiday tree glistened once they were turned on making a picture perfect moment.
