Although she kept specifics of her health issues private, Aretha Franklin recently stated in a phone interview that she is recovering well, and hopes to perform again soon.
In the last few months, the Queen of Soul had to cancel several shows and public appearances, due to health concerns. And while she didn’t go into specifics of what was ailing her, she does mention that it was one that was common to women, and it was partly related to health issues she had three years ago, that also resulted in cancelled shows at the time. Franklin also states to be “85 percent healed”, and hopes it will soon become 100 percent, and she is back onstage. She is also said to be working on a new album.
In other music and health news, Queen guitarist Brian May recently returned to the recording studio, following his recent knee replacement surgery.
The legendary guitarist had the operation, in order to correct a chronic problem on August 6th. He was discharged from the hospital three days later, and has continued recovery from home. May informed his Twitter followers of the news of the surgery, saying it was an explanation for his absence from the site, as well as thank them for their support on his road to recovery.
