With the opening of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Friday, Sept. 13 and Halloween Horror Nights on Friday, Sept. 20, the evil (and not so evil) spirits of this hauntingly fun time of year have begun to awaken all over Florida. Soon, you won't be able to turn a corner, shop at a grocery store, or flip on your television without being bombarded with ghosts, ghouls, and zombies. Not that that is a bad thing!
For frightened fans in South Florida, one of the best places to get your scare on is Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Opening on October 10, the scareactors are hard at work turning the Agriplex into a house of horrors. Soon, the haunted midway will take over the area where children, teens and adults scream to their hearts content on thirteen of the best rides in the state.
This year, the event consists of four all new haunted houses, new scare zones, live music and entertainment thrill rides, food, games, prizes, and more. New this year is Fright Nights TV, where everyone can get their minute of fame. Another night not to miss is Oct. 27, when the scariest place in all of Palm Beach County (not counting government offices) will be hosting a costume party and contest.
Opening night is Thursday, Oct. 10, and tickets are on sale now. If you act soon, you can take advantage of a special groupon deal! This Local Getaways Examiner would also like to offer one of his loyal readers and a guest a chance to attend the event in person. The first person to email me will be sent two tickets for the event, good on Thursday Oct. 10, 17, or 24 for admission to one of the haunted houses, as well as unlimited rides at the midway, and more! Additional haunted house admissions can be purchased at the event. Good luck! Keep an eye around town and on the Fright Nights Facebook page for additional discount ticket opportunities and more.
