As we move into the New Year, I would ask you to examine how you are forging connections in your career, business and your life…
Do you walk into a room, throw out your hand to the first person you meet and introduce yourself?
Or do you walk in, look around and decide who is best to connect with?
Do you start your day with a good morning and strategize for the hours ahead or do you start your day in solitude reflecting on the day before?
When you consider how you will MAKE success for yourself, are you taking into account the connections that manifest from all your actions?
In other words, each action begets another action. What transpires in between can be described as connections – or connecting. What you say or do can move things forward or in some cases backwards.
Often I think of connections like those towering suspension bridges. They seem to be static – going nowhere – no movement – just a shape in space. Yet, the minute someone walks upon their surface- they sway, they bend and fold and move in rhythmic harmony with the person traveling on them. Sometimes, they seem to shake – they seem to rattle and move in opposition to the traveler. Either way – they allow for a person to get from point A to pint B and often back again.
If the suspension bridge is uncared for – and falls apart – the traveler has now experienced a one-way trip. No going backwards or for some who started out too late – no moving ahead.
So these connections you make in your life, have you cared for them in a way that allows you to use them to their fullest potential? Or have you just carelessly made them; hoping that you arrive on the other end of the connection safely – and all will just “work out”?
Start the New Year by examining the way you connect, the connections you have already made and how you will use them effectively to move your visions into reality.
