It can be hard to party with childhood items because they remind me of a time when I didn’t have a care in the world, or have to pay taxes. Yet there are some adults who live in a home that looks like it was made for an elementary schooler.
LEGOs for whatever reason are hard to leave in our parents’ attic. Who didn’t love creating action figures and architecture with those little pieces that just seemed to fit so perfectly together? The phenomenon has continued through modern times even evolving into home accessories and furniture. The question now arises if they are for children or us adults?
How old is too old to have LEGOs around your house? Could too much ward off a potential spouse or worse, make your current one want to throw them out with the trash? While there is no right or wrong answer, I have a couple ideas to keep your space tastefully playful.
1. LEGO Brick Alarm Clock, Fat Brain Toys
2. LEGO Torch, Play Visions
3. X-Large LEGO® Storage Brick, The Container Store
4. LEGO® Business Card Holder, LEGO Shop
5. Puzzle Calendar, The Paper Source
{USING LEGOS IN YOUR HOME}
1.) Use them sparingly. It’s time to say adios to your box of LEGOs unless you have little ones. If parting is such sweet sorrow, use here and there LEGO accents in your room for fun pops of color. It could be a shelf, bookend or fun kitchen gadget (no posters please).
2.) Display in cloches. Did you create the most awesome LEGO item that you can’t chuck? If it’s small, try showcasing it in a glass cloche as an artifact. This is a great conversation item.
3.) Geek out in your (home) office. Work can oftentimes have its uninspiring moments so outfitting a home office with LEGOs may be a good fit. Search for desktop accessories that will excite you to be more productive or at least get you working on time. When you need a creative break, you can take a little time to play with your LEGOs.
