The dictionary states that a snob is someone with an exaggerated respect for high social position or wealth. They dislike people who are regarded as lower class. They are a person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people.

Snobbery used to be a privilege to wealthy aristocrats that strived to climb the social ladder. However, society has not given up on this old tradition but simply redefined it. We have added new areas where our snobbery is applied. It might be in the clothes we wear or the car we drive. While others may apply it to the jobs we do or the education we received.

Think about it. Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and they ask the question "Where did you go to college?' and your answer suddenly made their body language change & the conversation run short?

Maybe it was the fact that you did not go to college or that the college you went to was not prestigious enough. You just encountered a snob!

Now, don't fret. We all encounter a snob or two now and then. Infact we are all guilty of a little snobbery at one point or other. The best way to deal with a snob is to start by remembering to one main thing. This is about them not you. Snobs usually become snobs because they have some kind of insecurity and feel the need to parade their superiority over others.

Let them have their moment in the sun without allowing them to walk all over you. Give them kindness and be on your way. The truth of the matter is that those who matter won't mind & those who mind don't matter. Give your time and energy to those who have room in their hearts for meeting new and interesting people. And be sure to make sure that your not being a snob to anyone as well. Its an easy trap to fall into.
