Are you ready for the opening night of the hit Broadway musical "Wicked," which starts it's run tonight at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis. Oh, what a show is promised to the lucky audience members that make it out to see this fabulous musical, which runs from tonight, Jan. 29 - Feb. 16, 2014
A statement released by Christina Torres, Press Relations Manager for the Orpheum, describes the event.
"Back by 'Popular' demand. Variety calls WICKED "a cultural phenomenon,” and every time it plays in Memphis, it breaks box office records. Winner of over 50 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, WICKED is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times). Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete - and completely satisfying - new musical in a long time (USA Today)."
This writer will be at the Orpheum tomorrow night, Jan. 30, 2014 to write a review on the show, and I hope to see many of you there!
