Smoke screens are usually by design, protecting that which is the cause of the smoke. As a nation we are intensely enveloped the smoke of Health and Human Services failures on Obamacare, leaks filtering out of the Benghazi atrocity and less we forget, a president who’s really not the president per say, based on the limited knowledge he supposedly possesses.
If you believe that last part, then you are of, only the hundreds, instead of thousands, who have signed up for Obamacare and there’s no hope of trying to protect you. But if you’re among those who keep a watchful eye on this administration, then by now, you’d know, one scandal provides a smoke screen for the others.
So what’s behind the latest national tour on behalf of the president to promote a tremendous failure of a piece of health care legislation that will only add to a legacy of failure and failure? Perhaps Texas Senator Ted Cruz, you know that Conservative fellow who’s actually trying to accomplish what he campaigned on, of whom even Republicans have grown to despise, may hold the answer.
Recently, at a Heritage Foundation speech, Cruz presented an eye opener that deals with the Justice Department arguing at the Supreme Court for a ruling that would be totally against our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Attorneys for this administration’s DOJ is trying to get the courts to rule that the United States of America must comply with all international treaties, citizens of the United States did not sign on to, nor were they aware of.
DOJ’s attorneys are arguing that an international treaty, the government signed on to should allow the federal government to circumvent states rights and ‘prosecute criminal cases that would normally be handled by state or local authorities.’
As Cruz points out, ‘that is a dangerous argument,’ because if the courts agrees with this argument, the federal government’s limited powers will increase to astronomical proportions. Now if you were not born yesterday, you would know the sole purpose of this argument is a direct attack on the Second Amendment, which just happens to be the last line of defense for the American people.
So now, the question becomes, what are you prepared to do?
