Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner and millions of people are ready for some football. Whether you are a fan of the game or not, many people tune in for the food, fun, family time, commercials and of course, the spectacular and oftentimes shocking halftime show. This year Bruno Mars takes to the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform at one of the biggest events of his career. Is he ready for some football?
Of course the big question is, "What is Bruno Mars going to do at his Super Bowl performance?" He's been keeping pretty quiet about it but you can bet this plans on producing some of his trademark and chart topping songs as well as dance. He speaks at a recent news conference saying, where he downplayed the possibility of spectacle, instead suggesting "that his musicianship would carry the day. ' don't do trapeze,' joked the 18-time Grammy nominee. 'If you come to our shows, it's just the band up there with songs and instruments. And I'm hoping that's enough.'"
He continues, "I feel like I'm still a new artist," said the "Locked Out of Heaven" star. "The NFL is such a prestigious stage. I'm grateful that they've given the new guy a shot."
It may be cold outside, with some people saying a Super Bowl in New Jersey is a "stupid idea" he's prepared. He's bringing lots of hair spray. Good, that means he's trademark style should stay in place. But while is style may be in place, the technology may not, in recent rehearsals he says, "It's like the microphone turns into a Popsicle," he said. "We're getting some heaters on everything."
So don't expect any leaks on his performance before the game. He says, "It's only a couple days away, they can hold tight." He told reporters, "No matter where I perform, it's my job to uplift the people -- whether I'm performing at a graduation party, wedding, bar mitzvah, Grammys, Super Bowl, I'm gonna give it all I got," he said of the gig.
He definitely "ain't scared."
