2014 entered with a peaceful contentment that we haven't experienced in a while. So, is this mindful stance a reflection of a new societal standard or is this a passing trend?

According to marketing and communications giant, JWT Worldwide, 2014 will be characterized by a movement toward mindful living; the cultivation of a focused awareness on the present moment. "Mindfulness is part of a much larger trend we've been observing called mindful living," Ann Mack, director of trendspotting at JWT says. "It's kind of a counter trend to the past decade of overly stimulated, ADD-affected, tech-saturated culture that we've been living in," Mack observes.

Our lives are built from many components that can be, when viewed as a whole, overwhelming and complex. But, when we choose to live a more mindful life, we consciously choose to be more mindful in the way we use technology and allow our desires for more human experiences to take precedence.

4 Tips To Mindful Living:

  • Life is short; so live it to its fullest potential. Live it optimally.
  • Learn to tap your strengths and improve upon your weaknesses.
  • Balance is key. Too much or too little of something is not good.
  • Life is about making the right choices.

"What the culture is craving is a sense of ease and reflection; of not needing to be stimulated or entertained or going after something constantly," says Soren Gordhomer, founder of the Wisdom 2.0 Conference. "Nobody's kicking out technology, but we have to regain our connection to others and to nature or else everybody loses."
